Scott Johnson is a candidate for the position of Assistant Principal Chief of the Osage Nation 2026. As a proud descendant of the Osage, Scott’s father, Will R. “Bill” Johnson from Skiatook, has deep roots in the Hominy District. Scott proudly identifies as a Javine/Perrier descendant, tracing his lineage back to his ancestors, Baptiste Javine and Susan Perrier, who married in 1778, establishing a connection to Osage history that remains significant today.
Scott’s great-grandparents, John Javine #1370 and Emma Haynie (Cherokee), are the parents of his grandmother, Ollie Ree Javine #1371, whose allotments are located in Skiatook and Javine Hill. He married Carol Ann Herring (Osage), the granddaughter of Bertha Mae Mackey, allottee #1498. Together for 54 years, Scott and Carol have four children, five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild, all raised in Skiatook, nurturing their family's legacy and ties to Osage Country.
Scott graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Vocational Agriculture, while Carol earned her RN degree from Kansas Wesleyan. Together, they farmed their family allotment and operated Jonapoo & Jonapoo II Dairy. From 1975 to 1991, they proudly hosted the Kihekah Steh Powwow on their allotted farmland, emphasizing the importance of community in Osage culture. The Johnson family takes great pride in the fact that much of their allotted lands remain under the ownership and stewardship of Johnson family descendants today.
Currently, Scott serves as the VP of the Kihekah Steh Club Pow Wow Board and is an appointed/sworn member of the Osage, LLC Board. He previously held the role of Human Resources Director during Chief Standing Bear’s first term before retiring. As the Osage election approaches, Scott Johnson encourages the community to support his candidacy by using the hashtag #VoteScottJohnson.
